OnStream continues to trial Smart Metering

OnStream is installing more than 9000 gas and electricity meters as part of several smart metering trials for energy suppliers across Great Britain. A range of technology and communication methods are being trialled and provides OnStream an excellent opportunity to strengthen its smart capabilities in preparation for full national rollout.

British Gas extends contract with OnStream

British Gas has extended its five year relationship with OnStream into 2010. OnStream currently provides British Gas with gas and electricity metering services across Great Britain and the extension to the contract is a huge boost to the business.

The metering company celebrated the extension by giving a gift voucher to all staff and its national network of meter workers. Several office based staff and meter workers decided to club together and put their vouchers to use generating over £1000 for various charities.

OnStream begins Smart Metering Trial

OnStream, in conjunction with Npower and LogicaCMG, has begun a six month trial of smart meters within the UK. The trial is testing a new prepayment service that uses SMS technology to communicate with the meter and enables customers to top up their credit over the internet.

OnStream's experience in installing and managing meters makes us an excellent partner for npower and the trial provides OnStream with an opportunity to test new Smart technology that will play a crucial role in the future of metering.

Contact Centre still operational despite floods

OnStream’s contact centre based in Gloucester was seriously impacted by the widespread floods that hit large parts of south west England. Although the contact centre didn’t flood, it did lose power and water supplies and employees themselves were affected at home. However, thanks to its incident management procedures and the hard work and efforts of employees, the contact centre continued to operate and the floods did not impact the high levels of service that we provide.
